Sudan’s security forces have prevented the opposition Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) from organising a symposium at Freedom Square in Babanusa town in West Kordofan State on Sunday.

Dr. Omar Al-Digair, head of the SCP party and former leader of the party Ibrahim Al-Sheikh were invited to attend the symposium.

Kamaluddin Ahmed, head of the SCP party in Babanusa town, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that security operatives denied them any permission to organize the symposium, arguing the area was in a state of emergency.

However, Ahmed pointed out that they decided to hold the rally inside the party’s headquarters without using loudspeakers.

The opposition party leader who is visiting West Kordofan State these days was also banned from organizing any rally in a public square in En Nahud town.
