Sudanese security agents on Sunday arrested a South Sudanese refugee in Al-Fardous Locality in East Darfur State, a relative said.
The relative, who preferred anonymity, told Darfur 24 that Al-Fadil Issa was summoned to report himself to the national security office but he has not returned since.
The relative said they suspect Issa’s arrest is over his statements to media houses including Radio Tamazuj regarding the lives of refugees and local people in the area. Issa’s relative also pleaded with the security agents to either release him or try him in a court of law.
Al-Fardous is a reception camp for South Sudanese refugees before they are sent to Kario or Nimir camps.
