Samia Hassan Sidahmed Idriss, a parliamentarian belonging to Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party (NCP), says that the country will develop nuclear energy.

Addressing a political symposium organized by the NCP in Damazin on Friday, she said the world will witness in the very near future a Sudanese nuclear program for the purpose of peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The Ministry of Technology will give priority to taking next steps in the coming period, said Samia, who is also the head of the NCP women’s caucus in parliament.

“We want to strengthen our national security to maintain the country’s stability and security,” she was quoted as saying by the Al-Youm Al-Tali newspaper published in Khartoum.

The politician further urged the people of Blue Nile to vote for NCP presidential candidate Omar al-Bashir in numbers not less than 80%, calling for a wide margin of victory for the incumbent.

Samia also serves as deputy speaker of the Arab Parliament, an advisory body within the Arab League.

For his part, Amin Daffalah, member of the national leadership office of NCP, told the symposium that the government have been suffering from conspiracies from both inside and outside the country since the Salvation Revolution.

Al-Youm Al-Tali reported that he also said that he expects Sudan’s participation in the coalition ‘Decisive Storm’ operation in Yemen will help restore relations with neighbors and Gulf Arab countries.
