Sudanese petroleum minister admits fuel shortage

Sudanese minister of petroleum Mohamed Zaid Awad said there is a gasoline crisis in Sudan because of transportation challenges from Port Sudan to other Sudanese states.

Sudanese minister of petroleum Mohamed Zaid Awad said there is a gasoline crisis in Sudan because of transportation challenges from Port Sudan to other Sudanese states.

Citizens protested in Kamlin and Al Hassa-Hissa areas and blocked the Khartoum-Al Gazira road on Tuesday due to the fuel crisis.

The minister called on investors to use big trucks to haul gasoline, saying his ministry is unable to avail transportation to companies.

Awad pointed to lack of monitoring of gas and fuel distributors. He requested the National Ministry of Transport to visit roads in order to facilitate movement of trucks carrying fuel.
