An alliance of Sudanese opposition National Consensus Force has reiterated its position to boycott the ongoing National Dialogue, saying it does not meet conditions of a comprehensive dialogue process.

Abu Bakar Yusuf, spokesman of the National Consensus Forces, said the alliance is still demanding fulfillment of its conditions for the National Dialogue so there could be a balance of power during negotiations.

“Any dialogue without balance of power between the opposition and the government will not be fruitful,” he said. “If we our conditions are not fulfilled whether in a preparatory conference or not, we are not concerned about that dialogue, we will not participate in the dialogue, and we will not support any dialogue.”

Meanwhile, Presidential Assistant and deputy head of the National Congress Party Ibrahim Mahmud Hamid said in press statement that the 7 +7 committee will hold meetings with abstaining opposition parties so they can join the dialogue.

He stressed that any objections set by the abstaining parties could be raised during the dialogue itself – an approach rejected by the opposition alliance.
