Sudanese opposition leaders have vowed to continue protests against the government’s new economic decisions in spite of arrests by security agents.

Hassan Osman Rizik, deputy head of the Reform Now Party (RNP), told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the government decision to lift subsidies on electricity, fuel and medicines has exacerbated the situation of citizens.

Meanwhile, Amani Mekki, member of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) said that the opposition parties will not remain silent on subsidies removal.

She noted that the opposition parties agreed to stage civil disobedience, while urging all the people of Sudan to protest across the country.Mekki confirmed that nine leaders of the SCP party have been arrested by security officials so far.

Tariq Abdul-Hamid, member of the Sudanese Communist Party said that they should topple the current government as the only solution in the country.

He called on the people of Sudan to unit their ranks to overthrow Bashir’s government.
