Sudanese opposition parties reject national dialogue

An alliance of Sudanese opposition parties says it rejects any dialogue with the Khartoum government and a possible return to Berlin aimed at finding ways to create a new momentum for a peaceful solution of conflicts in Sudan.

In a press statement, the opposition group maintained that it will overthrow the current government through a popular uprising and civil disobedience. However, the opposition said it could participate in the national dialogue if the government accepts all its conditions.

The opposition said the government carried out arbitrary measures by restricting freedoms and conducting elections in April.

Meanwhile, the National Dialogue committee known as "7+7” met on  Saturday and called upon opposition parties to join the process.

The national dialogue called for by President Omar al-Bashir previously stalled after opposition and rebel movements boycotted it.

The boycotting groups later accepted the preparatory meeting in Addis Ababa, but Bashir's ruling National Congress Party refused to show up.
