Sudanese journalists went on strike on Thursday outside the National Council for Press and Publications (NCPP) premises to protest against recent restrictions and confiscations of newspapers by security agents.
Security officers on Thursday seized Al-Jareeda and Akhir Lahza newspapers from printing.
The protesting journalists handed over a petition to the council complaining against the increasing violation of press freedom in the country.
For its part, the Sudanese Journalists Network (SJN) said that it decries the aggressive censorship against the independent newspaper.
“We would not let our colleagues fighting alone the battle for freedom and dignity against the dictatorship and repression,” said the SJN.
