Sudanese journalist and poet dies in Khartoum

Sudanese journalist and prominent poet Saad-Eddin Ibrahim has died in the capital Khartoum on Thursday morning.

Sudanese journalist and prominent poet Saad-Eddin Ibrahim has died in the capital Khartoum on Thursday morning.

Saad Eddin Ibrahim wrote unique lyric poetry sung by prominent musicians like Mohamed Osman Wadi, Mustafa Sayed Ahmed, Zidan Ibrahim, Abu Arki Bakhit, Fathi Hussein and Muna al-Khair.

He was born in Omdurman city, and joined primary school in Beit al-Mal and later studied at Khartoum Arab High School. Ibrahim graduated in sociology at the University of Cairo, Khartoum branch.

After graduation from the university, Saad-Eddin started to work as a teacher in various schools in Omdurman before shifting to journalism.

Ibrahim made his way in journalism through magazines. He was promoted and became chief editor of al-Dar newspaper and also chief editor of Al Hurriya and Dunia newspapers.

Late Ibrahim also worked as a writer for Al-Sahafa and Al-Rai Alaam newspapers.
