Sudan’s renowned jazz musician Sharhabil Ahmed called for peace and love between Sudan and South Sudan through the practice of music.
The Sudanese artist is visiting South Sudan at an invitation by the National Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to perform musical works during Eid al Adha holiday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj from Wau town, Sharhabil Ahmed said Sudan and Sudan share things in common. He commended the cultural role played by the Orupaap Band headed by South Sudanese artist Stephen Ochalla.
Sharhabil said he was impressed by what he termed “a great love” of South Sudanese to music, and he promised to help in promoting South Sudanese music.
“The people of Sudan and South Sudan are one,” he said. “I think the separation that happened was a political matter.”
Sharhabil Ahmed is a member of Sudanese Artists Union. He also worked for the Ministry of Education and children’s magazine programme after graduating from fine arts college.
