Sudan’s renowned jazz musician Sharhabil Ahmed called for peace and love between Sudan and South Sudan through the practice of music.

The Sudanese artist who is visiting South Sudan these days came at an invitation by the National Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to perform music during Eid al Adha holiday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj from Wau town, Sharhabil Ahmed stressed that Sudan and Sudan share many things in common. He also commended the cultural role played by Orbab Musical Band headed by South Sudanese artist Stephen Ochalla.

Sharhabil said he was impressed by what he termed “a great love” of South Sudanese for music, and he promised to help in promoting South Sudanese music.

“The people of Sudan and South Sudan are one – I think the separation that happened was a political matter,” he said.

Sharhabil Ahmed is a member of Sudanese Artists Union. He also worked for the Ministry of Education and children’s magazine programme after graduating from Fine Arts College.
