The Sudanese head into this year's holy month of Ramadan this week with diminishing joy and happiness due to price hikes in consumer goods.
Several local residents in Khartoum told Radio Tamazuj prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing and that major markets suffered from lack of tussle by citizens to purchase Ramadan commodities due to high prices.
“A bag of Sugar which was being sold at 1,000 cots 1, 500SDG,” said one of the citizens.
Traders also complained that compared to previous years, the demand for Ramadan commodities are tellingly lower.
