Sudanese security agents on Sunday prevented worshipers at the Sudanese Church of Christ (SCOC) in Omdurman city from accessing the church premises, detaining some of the pastors on Sunday.

Sudanese security agents on Sunday prevented worshipers at the Sudanese Church of Christ (SCOC) in Omdurman city from accessing the church premises, detaining some of the pastors on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by Sudanese activist said the Sudanese authorities arrested the SCOC leaders the Rev. Ayoub Tiliyan, SCOC moderator; the Rev. Ali Haakim Al Aam, pastor-in-charge of the Al-Thawra 29 congregation; and pastor Ambrator Hammad.

They called on national lawyers to go to defend the detained religious leaders being detained at Al-Saura Police station.

The statement which pointed out that the office of the attorney general is working with the police to bail the detainees, also called all political parties and civil society activists to condemn such acts and protest to ensure the release of the detainees.

The activists said they raised this concern to the international community and other church organizations to be aware about the systematic atrocities committed against the church and Christians in Sudan.

Radio Tamazuj could not reach Sudanese officials to comment on the matter.
