The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Thursday released civil activist and political analyst Hatim Ayoub Abu Al-Hassan after three months in detention.

Abu Al-Hassan was arrested when SAF Special Forces raided his home in the Al-Feteehab area and took him to the Army Prison in Omdurman.

Abu Al-Hassan confirmed in a statement to Radio Tamazuj that he underwent continuous questioning about his affiliations to the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Minnawi and the Forces of Freedom and Change during detention.

He revealed that he was accused of not cooperating with the army and refusing to respond to mobilization and popular resistance.

“I did not encounter harsh treatment except for the continuous investigation about my affiliation with Minnawi’s Movement and questioning our non-participation in mobilization with the army, in addition to the psychological pressure throughout the detention period,” he narrated.

The SAF Military intelligence has recently carried out several arrests of civil activists in the states of Sinnar, Al-Qadarif, and Northern Sudan.
