The town of Um Dafog in Sudan’s South Darfur State is currently suffering a water shortage, with citizens complaining about a lack of water sources in the area.
The complaining citizens told Radio Tamazuj that they don’t have enough water and that water sources are a long distance.
Adam Issa, a water technician, told Radio Tamazuj that one of the water reservoirs has been shut down recently by the State Ministry of Health for not meeting hygienic standards.
He pointed out that the citizens are now using two water sources only in the area. Issa added the cistern needs fuel, saying most of the manual water pumps are dysfunctional. The water technician accused the local authorities of being reluctant to address the water crisis in a timely manner.
