Sudan: water and power cuts in Sennar

Citizens in Village 18 and Siela area in the east of Sudan’s Sennar State report shortages of water and power supplies owing to malfunctioning generators in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Monday, several village residents blamed the power blackouts and water shortages on the Ministry of Electricity and Dams.

The complaining citizens said power blackouts have negatively affected health services and grinding mills in the area causing bread shortages.

They called on local authorities to provide water and electricity supplies to alleviate the impact on the people. They also urged the authorities to fix lightning rods to protect electrical adaptors in the rainy season.
