Sudan VP briefed on West Kordofan reconciliation conference

The head of Sudan’s Supreme Council for Decentralized Governance briefed Vice President Hasabo Mohammed Abdul Rahman yesterday on arrangements for a peace conference between the Awlad Omran and Zeyud clans.

In June, the Awlad Omran and Zeyud clans of the Misseriya El Humr tribe signed a truce after clashes over a piece of land that left more than 44 people dead.

In a press briefing in Khartoum, the chairperson of the Supreme Council for Decentralised Governance (SCDG) Farah Mustafa said he briefed the vice president on a peace and reconciliation conference that will be convened next week in En Nahud town of West Kordofan.

Farah said the vice president also directed the governors of the Kordofan states to accelerate efforts to end ethnic disputes in the region.
