Sudan Vice President to hold trade talks in Moscow

Preparations are complete for Sudan's Vice President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman to visit the Russian capital Moscow, the Sudan News Agency reported Sunday.

Minister of Mining Ahmed Mohamed Saddiq Al-Karouri said the Vice-President's visit would consolidate Sudanese-Russian relations and realize political, economic, and trade integration, according to a press statement to the Sudanese embassy in Moscow.

The Minister of Mining said a number of Russian companies have expressed desire to invest in Sudan. He said the Vice-President's visit will include signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in the fields of oil, energy, health, education, mining, and railways.

Sudan Ambassador to Moscow Nadir Yousif said the Vice-President will hold three meetings with companies and representatives from Russia's private sector regarding investment opportunities in Sudan.

Al-Karouri said the Vice-President's visit to Moscow is culmination of activities and exchange of visits between officials of the two countries. These include a visit to Moscow by the Foreign Minister last September and the recent participation of the Speaker of the National Assembly at meetings of the International Parliamentary Union in the Russian capital.
