The administration of the University of Dilling in South Kordofan, Sudan condemned violence on its campus last week that it said was instigated by student protesters.
One student was killed, a dozen wounded, and thirty arrested last Tuesday during demonstrations against shortages of water and electricity in the university dormitories.
“Such incidents are meant to destabilize the university and hinder its academic mission,” read a statement issued by the administration Saturday.
Student demonstrators told Radio Tamazuj last week that security forces entered the campus and attacked what had been a peaceful protest.
The Saturday statement from the administration said that the Dean’s Senate and the Dilling Security Committee unanimously agreed to resume lectures Sunday while investigations continue.
