Peace talks between Sudan’s government and SPLA-N rebels will resume in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa after the African Union High Implementation Panel (AUHIP) overseeing the talks set 12 November as a start date.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, SPLA-N spokesman at the talks Mubarak Ardol confirmed that they have received an official invitation from AUHIP head Thabo Mbeki on the resumption of the peace talks regarding the Two Areas.

But Ardol ruled out any new developments in the invitation extended to them, accusing the Khartoum government of planning to launch an offensive on their positions in Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains to spoil the talks.

However, Ardol reiterated their commitment to dialogue in order to bring about peace and stability in the two areas.
