Sudan spy chief meets with Kiir in Juba

A Sudanese government delegation led by intelligence chief Salah Gosh and defense minister Awad Ibn Auf met with President Salva Kiir in Juba on Monday.

A Sudanese government delegation led by intelligence chief Salah Gosh and defense minister Awad Ibn Auf met with President Salva Kiir in Juba on Monday.

The meeting came as the South Sudan warring parties prepare to sign a final peace agreement on 5 August.

Speaking to the media the meeting on Monday, the Minister in the Office of the President Mayiik Ayii Deng said the Sudanese delegation briefed President Kiir on the ongoing peace process.

He revealed that the delegation also delivered a message from Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir in which he invited President Kiir to travel to Khartoum to sign the peace agreement on 5 Agusut,” he said.

For his part, Sudan spy chief Salah Gosh said the Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir sent a message to President Kiir to attend the signing ceremony of the peace agreement on Sunday.

“The agreement will be signed in Khartoum on 5 August. We also discussed with President Kiir the post-agreement issues,” Gosh said.
