Petroleum ministers of Sudan and South Sudan have concluded a joint visit to South Sudan’s oil fields in anticipation of the resumption of oil production in areas that had been affected by conflict.
According to a statement released by the South Sudanese ministry of petroleum on Monday, the delegation that included Sudan’s minister Petroleum and Gas Azhari Abdul-Gadir Abdalla, visited Ruweng and Northern Liech States.
“Today July 16, 2018, Honourable Ambassador Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, Minister of Petroleum of the Republic of South Sudan, returned home from the Republic of Sudan after visiting Heglig, Toma South and Al-Nar Oilfields on Friday 13th July 2018,” the statement read in part.
Minister Lol also revealed that he has directed the oil operating companies, partners and joint technical team to double their efforts to start oil production in Blocks 1, 2, 4 and 5A in the next two months in compliance to the Mutual Support Operation Agreement (MOSA) signed by the two governments.
