Sudan and South Sudan on Wednesday agreed to work towards increasing the oil production and boosting trade cooperation between the two countries, officials said.

The comes after economic talks between South Sudan’s oil minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth and Sudan’s oil minister Abdel-Rahman Osman in Khartoum on Wednesday.

According to the state-owned media SUNA, the two sides also agreed to reactivate the agreements signed by Sudan and South Sudan.

Sudan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment, Mubarak Al-Fadil, who headed the Sudanese side, said that the two countries agreed to work towards increasing the oil production at Wohda and the central oil fields.

He further said that the ministries of trade of the two countries agreed to exchange 54 commodities in the context of the inter-border and transit trade through Port-Sudan harbor.

Al-Fadil indicated that the two sides also agreed on holding joint meetings at the levels of the customs and security authorities for reactivating the crossings between the two countries.
