Sudan security release students detained over Khartoum University demonstrations

The Sudanese National Security on Sunday released a number of students who were arrested following the recent demonstrations that took place in the University of Khartoum.

The released students include Mai Adel, Waffa Gurashi, Navisaa Mohammed, Waffa Madwi, Taiseer Mudathir and Gurashi al Zain, while there are ten students still in the custody of the security.

Following their release on Sunday, the students met with Vice Chancellor of University of Khartoum who told them that the university will be strictly for studies and knowledge and the university administration will enforcement administrative regulations on the students.

Meanwhile, several activists said the release of the students came after pressure and protests of their families in front of the national security premises.
