Sudan security prevents opposition leader from travelling abroad

Sudanese security agents on Tuesday stopped Faroug Abu Issa, chairman of the leadership office of Sudan’s National Consensus Forces, from travelling abroad.

In a press statement, Abu Issa said a security agent at Khartoum International Airport informed him that he will not be allowed to travel after he signed the “Sudan Appeal” declaration.

The security forces in December last year detained Abu Issa, Mekki Madeni, and Farah Agar after returning to Khartoum from Ethiopia where they had signed the “Sudan Appeal” with armed rebel groups demanding end of conflict and democratic transition. They were released recently.
