The Sudanese national security service has freed on Thursday 15 women opposition activists who were arrested in a protest over high prices in the markets.

The protesters were also voicing opposition to the continued war in Blue Nile, South Kordofan and Darfur. They spent about seven hours in a security detention center in Khartoum.

Sausan Hassan Saleh, a member of Sudan Women Solidarity and one of the recently released activists claimed that they were beaten by security personnel during their detention.

She said that some of them were injured due to the abuse by the security personnel. Sausan stressed that Sudan Women Solidarity will not stop organizing protests against the current regime. “Either we live in dignity or die,” she added.
