Sudanese Military Intelligence seized motorcycles and large quantities of goods belonging to local residents in Habila Locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan State since last week.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, several local residents expressed discontent the confiscation of their properties for alleged security reasons. The security agents then moved to confiscate motorcycles and taxis and many goods from residents who are also living in Dilling town, according to a source.
“Locals residents in Habila locality and Dilling town are grumbling these days about a decision taken by security agents to confiscate taxis and motorcycles as well as foodstuffs from citizens,” one of the residents said.
They said the decision has affected movement of the citizens in the state. They accused the local authorities of robbing the citizens’ properties under the pretext of security reasons.
Last year the government took steps to better regulate and license the use of motorcycles, saying they were being used to smuggle goods into rebel-controlled areas.
