Sudan’s security agents on Wednesday arrested four opposition figures from the National Consensus Forces (NCF) after being summoned.
The SCF is a coalition of political parties in Sudan opposed to the rule of the National Congress Party, and was initially formed to stand against the ruling party in the 2010 Sudanese elections.
In a press statement seen by Radio Tamazuj yesterday, the opposition alliance said that the security arrested four opposition members after being summoned on Wednesday morning.
The group identified the political detainees as Sidig Yusuf, Yusuf Abdel-Majid, Mohammed Diaa al-Din and Munzir Abul-Maali.
Separately, security officers arrested four youth near the Republican Palace in Khartoum yesterday during protests against the government decision to lift subsides on essential commodities.
The detainees were identified as Abazar Ali, Samah al-Saeed, Mohammed Adam and Salah Omar.
