Sudan security agents arrest 7 opposition figures in Sennar

Sudanese security agents in Sennar state are still holding seven members of opposition parties who were detained after launching the "Quit Campaign" to boycott the upcoming April elections.

Khalid Omar, assistant chairman of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) in the Sennar, told Radio Tamazuj that the seven people have been in detention since last Thursday.

The assistant chairman said the detainees, who also signed the Sudan Appeal affirming the unity of rebel and political opposition movements, are being detained by National Security and Intelligence Service in the state.

After the arrests, the opposition held a political rally Friday at the Sennar headquarters of the National Umma Party, Khalid said.

Khalid identified some of the arrested political figures as:

-SCP Sennar branch leader El Mahi Suleiman
-Independant Students Congress members El Sadig Shumo and Hamid Zachariah
-National Umma Party members Morwan Nugud Allah and Abel Munaim Mohamed
-Sudanese Communist Party leader Abdel Gadir El Yasa
