Sudan’s White Nile state hosts over 100,000 South Sudanese refugees: Official

The humanitarian commissioner in Sudan’s White Nile State Mohammed Idris said the state hosts more than 100, 000 South Sudanese refugees fleeing violence in their country.

The humanitarian commissioner in Sudan’s White Nile State Mohammed Idris said the state hosts more than 100, 000 South Sudanese refugees fleeing violence in their country.

In a statement on Tuesday, Iddris added that White Nile state bears the heaviest burden of refugees than any other state in Sudan. He pointed out that they received around 4,000 last week.

The Sudanese official called upon humanitarian agencies to intervene and assist in the provision of basic needs to the South Sudanese refugees.

Separately, the commissioner of El Salam locality, Hashim Al Jazouli, said the increasing number of South Sudanese refugees is straining the already limited available resources.

He also called for humanitarian intervention in the state to support this growing number of refugees.
