Sudan’s Vice President Hasabo Mohammed Abdul Rahman issued instructions on Tuesday for the distribution of food aid to Sudanese nationals who returned from South Sudan to Blue Nile State since December last year.
Hasabo directed the Strategic Stockpile Department to distribute sorghum to the returnees, who include herders displaced by conflict in the South.
In a press statement to Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the Blue Nile governor Hussein Yasin explained that he briefed the Vice President on this year’s planting season.
He pointed out that the state government is also exerting great efforts to provide the returnees with aid assistance and basic services.
In his instructions, the vice president has also formed an ad hoc committee for the reintegration of the returnees.
Sudanese herders and farmers who returned to neighboring Sennar State meanwhile are still reporting shortages of water, basic services and lack of schools for their children.
