Sudan’s PCP submits names of candidates for upcoming government

The Secretary-General of the Popular Congress Party (PCP) Ali al-Hajj Mohamed on Tuesday handed over the list of his party’s candidates for the upcoming government of national concord.

This comes during his meeting with the Prime Minister Bakri Hassan Saleh.

In a press statement after the meeting, al-Hajj said the list of their candidates for the regional posts will be submitted later, adding the names will be nominated by the PCP regional offices.

Meanwhile, Osman Meirghani, chief editor of Al-Tayyar newspaper, said the Popular Congress Party was trying to look for moral principles to justify its return to power by emphasizing on the issue of freedoms.

Mergani further said the two parties are working hard to come together as Islamists. However, the chief editor pointed out that any coalition based on religious formworks will not succeed in Sudan politics.
