Sudan’s PCP: “President Omar Al-Bashir has no right to dissolve 7+7 committee”

Kamal Omar, Political Secretary of the opposition Sudanese Popular Congress Party (PCP), said that President Omar Al-Bashir has no right to dissolve the dialogue coordinating body known as 7+7 committee.

Kamal Omar, Political Secretary of the opposition Sudanese Popular Congress Party (PCP), said that President Omar Al-Bashir has no right to dissolve the dialogue coordinating body known as 7+7 committee.

The reaction comes after the 7+7 body had been dissolved last week and another committee to follow up on implementation of the dialogue outcomes was formed.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, Omar accused the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) of trying to manipulate the dialogue outcomes by dissolving the 7+7 committee.

Kamal, who was also member of the 7+7 committee, pointed out that the political parties which are participating at the national dialogue are conducting consultations with the ruling party on the formation of a transitional government and constitutional institutions.

Separately, Kamal Omar said that they don’t support calls for civil disobedience in Sudan on 19 December, saying they want to implement the dialogue outcomes in order to achieve a comprehensive change in the country.
