Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), has decided not to grant permission to a local organization planning to establish a chartable marketplace to support stranded South Sudanese nationals in Khartoum.

The commission is a government regulatory body tasked with monitoring of international and national non-governmental organisations across the country.

Suzan Ali who works for Peace-building and Development Organization told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the commission denied them permission to establish a charitable market in Khartoum from 3 until 12 November.

Suzan added that security agents and police accepted to give them permission, but the humanitarian agency turned down the plan.

She pointed out that the proposed marketplace should have allowed traders to pay small amount of money to support stranded South Sudanese citizens especially students.

The humanitarian organization urged the relevant authorities to exempt South Sudanese students from payment of tuition fees.
