Sudan's new Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok on Tuesday received the lists of candidates for cabinet ministers.
In a press release on Tuesday evening, Hamdok announced that he received the lists of nominations of ministers presented by the opposition Forces of Freedom and Change (FCC).
He disclosed that the lists of candidates for ministers in the transitional government reached his office at 3:00 pm.The lists included 49 candidates for 14 ministries and 16 candidates for five specialized ministerial councils, he said.
The prime minister promised he would study the candidates according to the agreed criteria, besides the fair representation of women.
Hamdok is expected to form his cabinet on Wednesday, excluding the defence and interior ministers. Those posts will be appointed by the military members of the country’s sovereign council.
Prominent economist Abdalla Hamdok is tasked to lead the country's transitional cabinet for more than three years.
Last week, he vowed to work towards ending the country's economic crisis and bringing peace.
