Sudan’s Communist Party has called for the formation of a national task force to control the outbreak of cholera in different parts of the country.
Cholera is a bacterial disease usually spread through contaminated water. Cholera causes severe diarrhoea and dehydration. If left untreated, cholera can be fatal in a matter of hours, even in previously healthy people.
In a press statement on Monday in Khartoum, Amal Jabrallah, a member of the Central Committee said the outbreak threatens many lives, stressing that everyone should take the responsibility to control it.
Jabrallah pointed out that they will do everything they can to convince the government to declare a cholera outbreak across the country.
Sudan’s Minster of Health Bahr Idriss Abu Girda has recently denied reports that the current watery diarrhoea across the country is cholera.
