Sudan’s President Omar Al-Bashir has wrapped up his two-day visit to West Kordofan State where he addressed a crowd of citizens in Al Fula and En Nahud towns.

Addressing local residents in En Nahud town yesterday, the Sudanese leader said that he visited the state to commemorate Martyr’s Day, while calling on the people of West Kordofan to honour families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives so every citizen enjoys security and stability.

“We must remember the martyrs, because with their blood, we are now enjoying peace and stability in Sudan, we ask God so that this peace prevails,”he said.

Meanwhile, Abdel-Gadir Munaim Mansour, paramount chief of the Humr tribe, appealed to the President to declare En Nahud area as a new state, saying En Nahud town and its surrounding localities deserve to become a separate state.

For their part, several citizens in En Nahud town downplayed the visit by President Omar A-Bashir to their area, saying they were experiencing deteriorating economic conditions due to rising prices of essential commodities at the market.

“The situation is very bad, the price of sugar is expensive, there is no water, the situation of the citizens is very bad,”said one of local residents.

The complaining citizens further said about 1,000 families were affected by floods and heavy rains in the town. They called upon the national government to address challenges facing the area instead of unfruitful visits.

On Tuesday, President Omar Al-Bashir promised to provide water, health and education services to the people of Al Fula town. However, many citizens expressed disappointment.

According to a government document seen by Radio Tamazuj recently, West Kordofan State proposed a budget amounted to 2,126,800 SDG to President Bashir’s visit to the state.
