Sudan’s Bashir to meet “7+7” committee on national dialogue tomorrow

An aide of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir will hold a meeting with the national dialogue mechanism known as “7+7” and political parties on Wednesday to discuss preparations for the National Dialogue.

Ibrahim Mahmud Hamid said in a press statement after a meeting with the AUHIP chief mediator Thabo Mbeki at Corinthian Hotel that Wednesday’s meeting will be attended by members of the dialogue mechanism and leaders of political parties which are participating in the internal dialogue process.

He pointed out that Mbeki reiterated his support for the national dialogue that will be owned by Sudanese in order to resolve their country’s problems.

“The government is committed to hold an inclusive process without excluding any party,” he said. “We informed the mediator that the dialogue is a popular demand by all Sudanese people.”

Mahmud, who is also the NCP deputy head of party’s affairs, said the meeting also discussed diplomatic ties between Sudan and South Sudan.

He said Mbeki emphasized the importance of engagement in meetings between the two countries to implement the Joint Cooperation Agreement signed in Addis Ababa 2012.
