Sudanese President Omer Hassan al-Bashir said at a gathering of the National Congress Party on Saturday that he is ready to form a new government to monitor the general elections slated for April 2015.

Al Bashir is thus responding to a demand set by the opposition parties and rebels to partake in the proposed National Dialogue.

Addressing the ruling NCP annual conference in Khartoum, al-Bashir said he has no objection to having a new government in office ahead of the elections so that all parties would have equal opportunities in the vote.

He stressed the necessity of conducting a comprehensive national dialogue, while vowing to ensure safe entry into the country and safe exit for all participants.

Al-Bashir noted that his proposed initiative for national dialogue was not prompted by government weakness, but rather a desire to get all the Sudanese taking part.

He also warned that there are some people who would take advantage of the proposed national dialogue to overthrow the government though false calls for unleashing freedoms.

Sudan lost up to 80 percent of its foreign currency earnings and 40 percent of its budget resources after the separation of South Sudan, according to the Sudanese president.

“But the government will never collapse, and we have been achieving positive growth,” he said.
