Sudan’s Bashir directs transportation of food aid to South Sudan

Sudan’s President Omer Al-Bashir has pledged to deliver aid assistance to South Sudanese citizens in Upper Nile, Unity and Bahr al Ghazal States, according to South Sudan’s new First Vice President.

Taban Deng Gai told journalists during his visit to Khartoum recently that his delegation had requested President Omar Al-Bashir to provide food aid to the people of South Sudan, saying the Sudanese leader responded quickly by directing the presidency to transport aid assistance to Aweil, Renk and other areas in Unity state by road and river.

“We have come to ask for support from President Al-Bashir, and I am happy to inform you that the President has accepted to provide aid assistance urgently to South Sudan”said Taban.

“The President will take some of strategic reserves of the Sudanese people to support his sons and daughters in South Sudan, and that will move immediately, it not wait for the reopening of borders “he added.

The top government official pointed out that the donation will reach South Sudan before 21 days set as a deadline by the two sides to solve all security and borders issues.
