Traders in Sudan’s Blue Nile state said that prices of consumer goods are rising at Damazin market.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, several retailers complained about heavy taxes imposed on them by local authorities this month.
They said that although they normally buy their goods from local wholesale shops, nevertheless they still find out that prices are dramatically rising every day.
A sack of onions rose from 250 SDG to 350 SDG, a sack of sugar of 50kg is 350 SDG, while a sack of sorghum increased to 350 SDG, one trader said.
He said that a jerrycan of cooking oil is now selling for 600 SDG.
