Sudan: Political activist dies in detention in Blue Nile town

A political activist has died in military custody in Geissan Locality in Sudan’s Blue Nile state, after reportedly spending almost two months a prison thought to be operated by the security services.

A political activist has died in military custody in Geissan Locality in Sudan’s Blue Nile state, after reportedly spending almost two months a prison thought to be operated by the security services.

El Sadiq Adam Hassan, age 40, was reportedly arrested by Sudanese security agents in Dem Saad town along with another three young activists, and taken into military custody.

Sources identified to the other three men as Abdurrahman Mohamed Nasser, Yusuf Jumaa Saed and Al Dou Nasser. The same sources told Radio Tamazuj the four activists were accused of spying for the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North, which is fighting the government in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.

The four were allegedly subjected to torture by the military intelligence resulting in the death of El Sadig Hassan.
