The prosecution office in Khartoum North police station on Sunday accused a student belonging to the opposition Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) of murder.
Assim Omer Hassan was arrested since 3 May during student protests at the University of Khartoum.
He was taken to national security offices before being transferred to police station where a case was opened against him under the Article 139 of the Sudanese penal code.
The police told his lawyers that the charges were changed to Article 130 of murder.
In statement to press, the spokesman of the Sudanese Congress Party Mohammed Hassan Arabi said the police told the defense lawyers that he is being held because he is accused of murder.
He added that they did know where he was being detained during all this time and that police declined to reveal any information about the case including who was the person he allegedly killed.
The police also declined a request by the defense lawyer to meet him.
