Abu Bakar Abdel-Razig, a senior member of the opposition Popular Congress Party (PCP), which is participating in the Sudanese National Dialogue, nonetheless voiced doubts about the process, saying that he doubts whether the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) may accept to form a transitional government.

On a weekly programme broadcast by Radio Tamazuj today, Abdel-Razig pointed out that other opposition political parties have decided to boycott the national dialogue that is scheduled to take place on Saturday. The opposition figure further said the absence of political parties and armed movements in the meeting will negatively affect the dialogue and prospects for peace in Sudan.

He claimed that his party sought to secure the participation of all parties and armed movements in the national dialogue but all efforts failed. Abdel-Razig noted that they presented a bundle of papers and sent a time-frame for the transitional government.

“But we do not expect the ruling party to accept that,” he said, expecting them to see at transitional government as a move to dismantle their power.

The Sudanese National Consensus Forces, armed movements and civil society organizations have repeatedly rejected to participate in the National Dialogue unless first the environment for dialogue improves and a preparatory conference is first held.
