Traditional leaders of the Misseriya Dara and Nuba Kamda clans have signed a peace agreement in El Sonut, West Kordofan.

The warring parties agreed to respect the agreement after fierce clashes erupted between the two sides.

Two tribal leaders Ismail Mohamed Yusuf and Saleh Ali Azareq vowed to respect the resolutions of the conference and work tirelessly to strengthen the social fabric between the two feuding tribes.

Addressing the conference, West Kordofan governor Ahmed Khamis said the Nuba Mountains region is characterized by a spirit of peaceful coexistence and social security.

Meanwhile, El Sonut Commissioner El Balula El Gadil Daldum said the document signed by the two clans represents a clear message to those who report falsely to the media that there are rebels in western Nuba Mountains.
