Sudan: 'no need for intervention in South Kordofan, Blue Nile'

The Commissioner of humanitarian and voluntary work in Sudan, Abdul Rahman Suleiman has said that the humanitarian situation in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states is under control, not needing aid or UN intervention.

He said the government would not recognise any assessment of the situation put forward by foreign organisations or the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.

Speaking at a press conference in Damer on Wednesday, Suleiman said Sudan would welcome initiatives to address the situation in places controlled by the SPLM, but said this must be done with the supervision of state institutions.
