The agriculture committee in Sudan’s national legislature complained about crop pests which could threaten this year’s harvest in Blue Nile state.
Committee member Bashir Khalid El Faki told Ashrooq TV Monday that agricultural pests including worms have invaded crops after heavy rains and are threatening sesame and other crops.
El Faki said this year’s farming has been entirely affected by agricultural pests. He called upon authorities to intervene urgently to control worms that sweep off sorghum and sunflower.
El Faki also said prices of essential commodities have also increased since the main roads are cut off by the rains.
