Doctors and medical support staff in Lagawa locality in Sudan’s West Kordofan have been on strike for weeks over low wages, worsening health conditions of local residents.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Wednesday, several local residents expressed concern about deteriorating health conditions after the doctors stopped working.
They said public clinics have run out of life-saving medicines, adding that patients have been referred to El Obeid town in North Kordofan for treatment.
On Monday, a group of youths gave a 72-hour ultimatum to local authorities including the governor to provide basic services or risk “alternative” action.
