Sudan interior ministry ignores plea to protect S Sudanese stranded in Khartoum

The Sudanese interior ministry has not responded to a call by legal groups to protect South Sudanese citizens living in Khartoum from attacks by police.

Police have repeatedly attacked South Sudanese living in Jabel Aulia and Omdurman, resulting in property losses of over three billion Sudanese Pounds.

Refaat Osman Makawi, a member of the legal team, said they presented a memo to ministry which included names of those affected, but the ministry ignored them.

Thousands of South Sudanese live in Khartoum but cannot return to their country due to civil war.
