Sudan: houses collapse in Sennar rains

Two days of heavy rains and wind collapsed several houses in Sinja town in Sudan’s Sennar state, according to local sources.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Tuesday, several affected citizens said main roads have become impassable due to the weather.

They called on the authorities concerned to assess the damage and provide aid assistance to the needy people as soon as possible before conditions deteriorate.

In a press statement to Ashrooq TV yesterday, Sinja Locality Commissioner Mohammed Adam said that rain fall has submerged numerous villages.

Mohamed said local authorities are working to support any affected people. He said that so far the humanitarian situation is under control.
